Limits on Wind Power Installs

China issued urgent order to limit the wind power installation at some regions

There is an urgent order issued by China's Energy Bureau, asking the power gen companies to limit their wind power development at some regions due to the tight power grid. At some regions where wind resources abound and there are large installation bases, the rate of electricity wasted exceed 20%, with certain places reaching 30%. So the power-gen companies need to stop new development and wait till the so-called 'wind-discard' is resolved.

As reported earlier, the big power-gen companies decided to expand the development of wind power in 2012 over 2011, now this seems to be a setback to their ambitions. On the surface it is a plus for solar pv, but the limitation at the power grid will affect pv as well. Of course, the overlap of solar and wind is partial and there are more places suitable for solar than for wind.
