I believe she is saying 500 million by the end of her first term, if elected.

That would be an install rate at least 50% higher and up to close to double that of China today, which seems possible at least although annual installs in US would need to almost triple from today's level. Sounds good to me.

you probably right. I did not study it, I have not heard any pledges from other candidates, and I was not really paying that much attention. less impressive in 4 yeas still huge amount.

Explo I did not have a spyglass with me when I heard it 500M panels. I took at 260W is 130GW.  It can be more perhaps as the averages go up in time.

16 GW for US in 2016... wow

japan set to do a record and possibly China too in 2016.  Could see 50 GW just with those 3 countries.  Are we headed for over capacity or supply shortage 2H 2016?  2017 on other hand solid chance of overcapacity.

Of course the one potentially most negatively effected - CSIQ - is not even mentioned.

Poly price continues to go up while wafer, cells and modules prices continue to trend downward.

dq is looking good and is now higher than Csiq.

Yes and cell prices have come crashing down again. Wafers are coming down too despite poly going up. I wonder if CSIQ is re-thinking their increased vertical integrations plans already.

Much of what CSIQ is adding is cell capacity not in China along with PERC technology. Even with cell prices coming down I think they will still benefit from this recent expansion. I don't know if it will help much with reducing their processing cost, but the tariff free cells should help substantially with their US margins.

Another downturn/overcapacity in the solar sector would be damning.. I went thru hell back in 2011/2012.

Indeed which is why solar names generally trade in the 6-8PE range now. Look at the demand projections CSIQ used in their march presentation for 2017-2019. That sure isn't the +20% demand growth we've been seeing recently that has allowed ASP to be relatively stable, but still trending down. The ITC extension will help, but the collapse of emerging markets like Brazil isn't what one wants to see either.

Darn, DQ is now even higher than JKS.  It has small float thus can have a larger pop.

I'm not surprised, but I've given up DQ. It's too small and very exposed to one part of the value-chain. I use FSLR as semi-hedge for poly shortage instead.
