GCL denies relationship with Foxconn. Will not make cells nor modules
GCL has issued a statement in regards of the media articles involving Taiwanese Foxconn and GCL in the business relationship to produce as much as 10GW of solar cells and modules. Company has stated following:
"Recently some news media reported that GCL-Poly will cooperate with Foxconn Group to manufacture solar cells and modules. GCL-Poly hereby clarifies that at the moment the Group has not considered any cell and module manufacturing. Besides, the cooperation with Foxconn Group in other solar areas is still at the memorandum-of-understanding stage. As the Group has already stated in the past, we will continue to commit ourselves in the manufacturing of high-quality and price-competitive polysilicon and wafer products and develop domestic and overseas solar farm businesses so that the solar industry can rapidly develop resulting in the increase in demand of solar products. This has resulted in achieving our objective in pushing solar power generation into a faster trajectory and getting global popularity."
