Looks like Africa is getting real big. Hope CSIQ will benefit from their ties with SkyPower.

Stanford University ditches coal investments

Board of Trustees says existence of less harmful alternatives means it will no longer invest $18.7bn endowment in coal mining

http://www.businessg...al-investments?

The news is the latest coup for a divestment movement that has already convinced cities such as Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland to ditch fossil fuel assets and is now increasingly gaining ground in US universities. Hampshire College, Pitzer College, and College of the Atlantic are among those to have already divested fossil fuel assets, while high-profile protests were staged at Harvard and Washington University in St. Louis last week after they rejected calls to divest.

Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org and a professor at Middlebury College, which has also resisted calls to divest, urged other institutions to follow Stanford's example.

Some more tariff news:
http://www.usitc.gov..._CVD_Solar2.pdf

Notice that for the decision to have been extended legally the parties have to be said to be cooperating.... So a deal could very well be in the making.

(...) However, if the Department concludes that the parties concerned in the investigation are
cooperating and determines that the investigation is extraordinarily complicated, section 703©(1)(B) of the (...)

Interesting stuff:
Suntech among 4 others are excluded from the "domestic industry"
(page 14-15) ( to be honest I have no clue yet what this exactly means but cant be a good thing as the petitioner solarworld asked for them to be excluded from list of domestic industry producers)

Conclusion.  In view of the above discussion, we find that appropriate circumstances
exist to exclude Motech, Wanxiang, ***, and Suntech from the domestic industry.

Good catch. There were more explicit words further down:

The Department determines that the
parties involved in this proceeding are
cooperating, and that the investigation
is extraordinarily complicated.

GM is disappointing though. But market seems to like the news overall.

My revised estimate indicates the result would be worse than Q4 under both GAAP and Non-GAAP measures, especially the latter.

Looks like they are excluding suntech because they had a facility in the US at one point that was potentially 'damaged' from dumping

I do not mind 1% lower GM when shipemnts are higher. Plus, projects will pick up 2nd half.

What a read.  I think they need to go by more recent data (beyond 2012) to extrapolate what will be happening in the US and to see that there has not been "dumping by the big 5 (YGE, TSL, CSIQ, STP and JKS)  Notice their big 5 are or were all US listed names.

Since that facility bought Suntech cells to make modules it was hurt by tariffs on cell imports, not cheap cell imports. Suntech no longer owns the China factories though.

Lots of details about the large scale projects pipeline in UK:

Large Scale Solar UK: NPD Solarbuzz UK solar PV perspectives – part two

http://www.solarpowe...=blogs-rss-feed

There are two key takeaways here. First, the UK is forecast to be the third largest market in 2014 for ground-mounted capacity added. Second, the contributions from mainland Europe are very low, something that goes a long way to explaining why so many suppliers and EPCs have set up camp in the UK over the past 12 months, and why global developers such as SunEdison have become so vocal on the opportunity that the UK represents in Europe.

The author of this article is implying that SUNE may have an interest in acquiring one of the 3 mentioned Companies. Kam Mofid now with RGSE formerly worked in Management with SUNE before becoming CEO of RGSE. http://seekingalpha....er-this-company

The DOC preliminary decision on anti-subsidy tariff (previously set on June 2nd) is rumored to be further delayed onto July. As a result, orders for the first half of June is being released. Also reported some price increases, especially for mono cells.
