Looks like it doesn't know which way to go as yet. My bet is up when all is said and done.

Why would you say it's getting such a high valuation?

Canadian Solar Inc. “is a best-in-class” solar stock, able to adapt to changing market conditions faster than its Chinese rivals, and shares are poised for a surge this year, analysts at J.P. Morgan said in a note to clients Monday.

ugh.... can't imagine living in that. Guess we know why they're setting such aggressive solar targets

I am not in it but it seems to be a name (and a founder) that will get carried to steep valuations. I didn't see this coming 12 months ago, that is for sure.
I am also not saying that I think it should have a forward PE of 200+ (which it might just have in a month or so if 2015 estimates go slightly positive) but I will not complain either as they make our picks look cheap.

Yes, they must do something or face a revolution from the choking masses. We have not yet discovered what "the people" will do when they can no longer breathe, drink the water or stop the ground from shaking. I think there is no choice in the matter for those who want to stay in power anywhere.

July: what did you mean by that link? It is from 2012.
I think these guys like to pump and balloon stocks higher than their worth and they can feed off it from a high SI. I don't trust Goldman or his buddies.

Tesla Plans to Build World’s Biggest Battery Factor
http://oilprice.com/...ery-Factor.html
The impact on the EV market could be huge. Tesla’s factory, which could cost $2 billion to $5 billion, would be able to churn out 30 gigawatts of production capacity each year. The gigafactory would not only be the largest battery plant in the world, but would more or less equal all global output combined. This could dramatically lower the cost of producing lithium-ion batteries for electric cars, typically one of the costliest components. Bringing down battery costs will be key to making electric vehicles affordable for the mass market.
But the implications could go beyond the EV market. Renewable energy that is intermittent has been searching for a way to capture and store energy to be used in off hours. Tesla’s gigafactory could bring down the cost of energy storage, allowing solar energy to be discharged at night and wind power to be used during calm hours. SolarCity, of which Elon Musk is the largest shareholder, would purchase Tesla batteries for its solar systems.

MF (accodring to statistics) wrong in more than 80% of their predictions. Tossing a coin is a much better investing tool.

Nobody said that MF was a tool, only that MF is selling SOL. They have been at it for a long time now, and they continue with their promo.

Since the US government did not impose retrospective anti-dumping tariffs on China-produced PV products in 2012, China-based PV firms probably believe that the US government will again spare them retrospective taxes this time, the sources said.

the china smog story is also headline in germany now.
it says 20-times above WHO max levels. 400 million chinese people affect.
500K-1 million people die due to this annually as per chinese internal scientists - probably more. pictures look horrible.
people saying gov needs to change from current code orange to red now - has been like this for some days now it seems.
it must be terrible. a colleague of mine said it is like if you permanently have a marlboro on.
I guess they will need way more wind, water, solar power...or shutdown production facilities which some are already requesting.
but profit hunger still wins it seems - but not for long i guess
