Discounted valuations for China-based Solar Manufacturers continue in the market, despite financial turnaround


Based on the third quarter results, we have put together a quick reference table to show how top Chinese companies have fared during first nine months of 2014. Based on the compiled data, Canadian Solar (CSIQ) has earned over $3.02 per share, followed by JinkoSolar at (JKS) $2.26 and JA Solar (JASO) at $0.73. Trina Solar (TSL) took the fourth place with $0.60 per share.

Current estimates for Q4 compiled by Yahoo Finance see $1.33 per share for Canadian Solar and $4.06 for CY (current-year) 2014, using diluted number of shares. Stock currently trades at CY 2014 PE of 6.7 and FYE (fiscal year-end) 2015 at 6.43PE on expectations to earn $4.23.

JA Solar is expected to reach $0.32 per share during the fourth quarter, 2014 and for the year-end 2014, $0.95, based on Yahoo Finance data. JA Solar trades at CY 2014 9.88PE and for the FYE 2015, the current price is at 6.33PE.

JinkoSolar Q4 expectations see the company earn a $0.90 per share and for CY 2014, $2.98, once more using Yahoo Finance Data. For the FYE 2015, Jinko is expected to reach $4.14. The company’s stock trades currently at $24.52 per share, with 2014 PE at 8.22 and for FYE 2015 at 5.92.

Trina Solar is seen to earn $0.18 per share in Q4. Moreover, for the year $0.18, based on Yahoo Finance data. Next year estimates see the company to earn $1.31 per share. The company’s stock trades at $10.66 per share at 2014 PE of 12.1 and for the FYE 2015 at 8.1PE.

In comparison, SunPower (SPWR) trades currently at 2014 PE of 22 and FYE 2015 at 20. First Solar (FSLR) trades at $51.54, on 2014 PE of 18.8 and FYE 2015 of 11.3
