Modules- General views
Overall, October 2013 delivery volumes have been slightly lower than volumes recorded during the month of September. Deliveries during October were at 1.25GW in comparison to 1.29MW in September. In comparison to October 2012 (YoY), deliveries this year have grown by 40.5%.
Global distribution month over month witnessed a re-emergence of Europe by up 81.3% from September. North America dropped by 20.9% while Asian destinations also encountered a drop of 14.1%. Deliveries to Africa have grown by 57.6% consisting of increases to South Africa and fractional volumes to Kenya. South America, consisting of Chile, received a drop of 19.1%. Rest of the world (ROW) showed growth of 17.7%. Countries within the ROW with volume larger than 1MW that received modules from “CN7” companies listed in the US (exc. LDK, DQ, STP) were: Indonesia around 1.7MW by Canadian Solar (CSIQ), Singapore around 1.2MW by Hanwha SolarOne (HSOL), Brazil at around 1.1MW and Ecuador at around 2.MW, both deliveries made by Yingli Green Energy (YGE).
In year-to-year comparison, global distribution saw a 61% drop in volumes to Europe, 118% growth to North America, 286% growth to Asia, and 100% both to Africa and South America. In comparison, October 2012 had 16 countries, while October 2013 had 32 countries identified. ROW comparison shows only a 9% reduction, suggesting that the number of new destinations is on the rise.
The top 10 country destinations during October received 1,066MW, in comparison to September’s overall deliveries at 1,137MW. The list consisted of nine countries in October also present in September: Japan, USA, Holland, Australia, Thailand, South Africa, ROW, India and Chile. United Kingdom was the new country on the list at growth of 839% MoM and 798% YoY. The country which did not make the list in October, but was on it in September, was the Philippines, which MoM saw a 45.3%. The Philippines had 0.2MW during October 2012.
Among nine destinations consistent within two months, MoM growth was observed in: South Africa at 57%, Holland at 56.7%, Australia at 40% and ROW at 17%. Drops in volumes were India at 37.8%, USA at 20%, Chile at 19%, Thailand at 16%, and Japan at 12%. Japan, USA and Holland led in October, while in September India was in third place.
Year over year, Holland, USA, and Japan were the leaders. Belgium, Germany, Ukraine and Greece were on the list of 10 top destinations during October 2012.
Cells –General views
During October top destinations were India, Canada, South Korea, and South Africa. Leading shipping companies were JA Solar (JASO) , ReneSola (SOL) and Hanwha SolarOne (HSOL) with 91% of the observed trade. In September, cells were delivered to Canada, India and Germany. Leading shippers were JA Solar, Renesola and Hanwha SolarOne with 87% of the observed trade. October to September growth of overall deliveries was 24%.
Wafer –General views
Wafer trade in October was dominated by polycrystalline 156 mm wafer . The three largest destinations were Taiwan Malaysia and South Korea. The three top shippers during October were GCL Poly, Longi and Taiwanese GET. The largest shipper among CN7 was Canadian Solar, with Taiwan and Japan as destinations. ReneSola shipped to Taiwan, India and South Korea. JA Solar was third with shipments to Taiwan.
October overall volume represents a growth of 5% over September’s. The three major destinations in September were Taiwan, Malaysia and South Korea. Top shippers were GCL, ReneSola and Longi. Besides ReneSola’s taking a top spot among the top three CN7 shippers were Canadian Solar and JA Solar. Taiwan was the largest in size destination. In addition, ReneSola delivered wafers to South Korea and India, while Canadian shipped also to Japan.
CN7- general views
Based on the MoM results, the following companies had observed growth in shipments: Hanwha SolarOne at 30%, JinkoSolar at 27% and JA Solar at 2%. Most declined were Yingli Green and Trina Solar, both at 25%. Renesola declined by 3% and Canadian Solar grew shipments by 2%.
The top three companies in October were Canadian Solar, Hanwha SolarOne, and Trina Solar (TSL). During September, Yingli was second and Trina was third, while Canadian Solar was the largest shipper in the period. The largest single order in October was by Trina to the US. In September, this record belonged to Yingli, also to the US. In the only shipper-per-country category with greater than 3MW per delivery, the following single deliveries were made: Canadian Solar to France and Canada. Hanwha SolarOne to Spain and to South Korea, while Jinko Solar (JKS) delivered to Romania.
