checking on the Renvu.com web site... ( one of the US retailer for Renesola products)
Q - What is the main difference between the Enphase M215 and the ReneSola Micro Replus 250A?
A - The Enphase M215 rated power is 215W while the Micro Replus 250A power rating is 225W, so actually you will produce 10W more from each module when using Micro Replus 250A

Got my question answered from Renvue staff...

Hi...how popular are these Micro Replus inverters from Renesola?

RENVU Team
Hi! The Renesola MicroReplus have been recently introduced into the US market, but have had success already in the European and Australian markets

How is it going in US markets ...so far?

RENVU Team
The Renesola MicroReplus is doing well actually
We have had a lot of good response to the product, even from those who are accustomed to Enphase--it is similar to the M215

You (click to change)
I am researching on a home pv system.

RENVU Team
This is the typical application of the MicroReplus, similar to the M215

You (click to change)
Renesola is the one interests me more

RENVU Team
I don't know how much research you have done comparing the two microinverters, but a key difference is the hardware accessories that come with the MicroReplus
You don't need to purchase as many accessorials for the Replus

You (click to change)
oh..I see...that is definitely a plus...
Renesola had tall claims on this product.
wondering ...if it has been really tested on the field.

RENVU Team
You anticipated my next comment
I was about to say, we have had a lot of installers purchase the Replus and are just now completing installs with them. I am awaiting their feedback, especially as they are familiar with Enphase

redsolar, talk a bit about enphase as you seem to know a lot in that area. Do they have the largest market share? High margins?

Red, thanks, good info. Cat, Enphase was an early mover in micro inverters. Micro inverters could grow its share of the inverter market a lot. SOL is a threat to their success.

Enphase..been around for a while. So obviously ...it is a matured product.
Renesola..on the other hand..though new in this area. It is a lot cheaper to own and use it than other competitors..and has better specs too. Renesola is planning to release Micro Replus version 2 during mid 2013...which supposed to reduce cost further about 20%. So...it is obviously offering more power for you money.

Another differentiator is....Micro inverters can directly go with the module...transforming into AC module...which is good for residential solar. Renesola can do this right out of the factory gates...supplying to the market as an integrated AC module.

So..Renesola does not have to compete with brands like Enphase. They can make direct deals with the Utility scale projects and with retail distributors as a package deal. This will also allow Renesola to skim better margins as a package. Retailers selling these at 50c/w or above. The actual cost may be around 15c/w or less. Even if they sell this at 20c/w ASP. That is like 25% margin.

Say...Renesola sell the module + inverter at 62+20c/w = 82c/w as a package.
cost = 52+15 = 67c/w.
We are looking at 18.3% GM..

But...this is all depends on ..how well Renesola can execute this. So far..it looks promising.

BTW redsolar, who are the competition in that field beyond Enphase and how do they compare between them? Do any of the other Chi solars have anything comparable?

For those that don't know about micro inverters, here is a good place to start:

CSIQ was working on it for a long time for the purpose of AC module. Renesola was much quicker with getting their micro inverter commercialized once they started talking about it, but CSIQ's AC module is now ready. SOL 's AC module will be launched later this year.

How other PV makers (who do not have microinverters) will compete if Renesola starts selling plug and play integrated panels with AC microinverters?
