UK and Japan pledge joint climate action
http://www.businessg...climate-action?
"We share the view that without ambitious national and international action, climate change represents an urgent and potentially irreversible threat to current and future generations and the planet," the statement says. "We also recognise the huge economic opportunities of moving to a low carbon economy as a new driver of growth and jobs, and for greater security of energy supply."
The statement also looks ahead to next year's climate summit in Paris where countries are committed to agreeing a global emissions reduction deal and promises further cooperation on energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy storage, smart communities, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and nuclear technology and decommissioning.

When You're dying and losing your flare from in an industry you once controlled you'll try anything, I actually envision a hand coming out of an enclosed trapping grappling to come up and gasping for a fresh breath of air. I'm beginning to think downside for some of our solars is a joke at best and I'll act accordingly.

NV Energy proposes closures at Reid Gardner in shift from coal to cleaner energy
http://www.lasvegass...ner-shift-coa/?
After a year of waiting, NV Energy announced a $600 million plan to replace four coal-fired power plants with cleaner energy sources.
NV Energy plans to replace 800 megawatts of coal-generated electricity with an array of natural gas and solar energy facilities. The utility company is requesting approval to begin permitting up to 4,000 acres of land north of Las Vegas for solar development while developing both the 200-megawatt Moapa Solar Project and the 15-megawatt Nellis Air Force Base Solar Array II. It is also bidding for three solar plants that would each produce 100 megawatts.

Shunfeng's net loss was bigger than their revenue in 2013. Now they are looking to expand into new segments like energy storage. They certainly don't need much affirmation to feel confident about further expansion. At least their net loss was not twice as big as their revenue.

Shunfeng wants to be a leader in renewable energy. Probably money grows on trees in China so as capital doesn't matter. 1.2 bln WC deficit and acknowledgement of failure to finance this would lead into bankcruptcy. But still planning to expand. Still they seem to find banks that finance all this. This is just a different business culture it seems to me.
Common sense would tell me there is not much to worry from this competition, however it is discomforting having such companies and banks in the system. What happen to all these companies and banks if a debt crisis starts in China?

Shunfeng is being backed by their largest shareholder Zheng Jianming 30% stake in Shunfeng he also has a 22% stake in LDK. If it wasn't for Zheng Jianming Shunfeng would of never won the bid for Suntech.

Solar is getting more main stream by the day. The US PV market is going to be huge. I think US has all the ingredients to lead the world in the clean energy transformation.
