Dear SPVI Members,
More than two years have passed, since I started SolarPVInvestor, and almost 9 months since we started this forum.
We talked about commission from sales of Solarzoom Reports and Google Ads income to support this site. Both have dramatically improved the standing of this business this year, but with outflow still being greater than income, the loss has grown to over US $10,000, and every month I add a bit more.
As a prudent investor, I can no longer to support this enterprise. In addition, every week I dedicate 25 hours of my life to work on it, essentially being a second job. Between interviews, articles, moderation and adding the cost, it is rather taxing. Looking into near-term, my professional career may offer opportunity, which will require a lot more of my time. I need to be prepared, and I hate to make haste choices.
I find myself at the fork in the road. To close SPVI down, in order to cut the losses or act on this and challenge this situation. It would be a loss to simply forget the legacy and all the work and invested time. I would be disappointed giving this up.
Therefore, I am making a last stand here for SPVI. Starting on September 2, 2013 the forum will be going under membership mode. I have estimated that the monthly membership will require costs at CAD $9.60 per person. This will support the expenses and enable few things, like article payments, less time for moderation (since paying folks care more to be civil), internal articles, just for members, based on data and other sources of info, similar to some of the pieces of info we had in the premium forum. It may buy me a time, so I can get the part time help.
The membership cost will be deducted from the reports at value of $10 and in the form of the discount, so for $60 report, member will pay $50.00 and for premium report will be $130.00. External reports will sell for the current amount.
I will make last, large investment in new software in order to facilitate this change. There will be a lot more opportunity for development with it than the current platform offers today. I will be testing functionality with few members. I have already introduced this concept to them so we can get the most efficient and attractive set up for all of you, when we are done.
There is nothing which needs to be done by the current members and future members, please continue to enjoy the site.
Between August 24th and 25th, 2013 we will transition databases to the new platform; current site will be taken down to make sure its integrity is intact. We will reboot new set up on the 26th. You will have a full week to evaluate the site. I would suggest for anyone who is interested, to join prior August 24th since for new members, after August 26th, membership fee will be in effect.
Monday, September 2nd 2013 membership payment will be required from all. I will add more details as I have them.
I hope everyone here today will be part of this community in the future. I hope those who will stick with it, will take care of the site, my intent is to not “control” the site as much. It is proven that spam is hardly a factor on pay sites, anyway.
Without the support and due to inability to operate this at small profit to support above objectives, I will have no choice and close the shop on December 31, 2013. I want to thank you all for the great time, and I hope we will meet each other in the new setting. Happy Investing.
Sincerely
Robert Dydo

We use Paypal as the pay gateway. Paypal takes visa, without account with PayPal.

Love this site, of course I'm in.
I use pay pal currently to pay for data. It's very easy to sign up and pay using this feature. I hope everyone supports the new updated site. Odyd has put a tremendous amount of effort in establishing this site and keeping it up and running. I urge you all to support the new site so we don't have to deal with yahoo BS again. Odyd you are the man, thanks for all your hard work!

If you have a PayPal, you can simply login with it and pay for it. For security we do not store private data, credit card numbers etc. All it is done securely through Paypal today. The same set up will be in the new forum.

Thank you for your support everyone.
I have reviewed the software, and I am in the process of, building application. I will be ready in next 48 hours. We will do SME testing. Since I have the fiscal year ending on July 31. I want to start a new year fresh.
I have a plan to shut down current application on the 28th of July. The new application should be restarted the same day ( I hope)
I will give everyone 72 hours to test the application.
By using levels of membership the transition will have everyone to be registered as a unique level. After application is restored you will be able to sign in and in order to improve go to the store menu and activate "Trial Period" package, located there.
Within 30 hours period, trial package will be eliminated. The only option to increase at that point will be to purchase a membership.
By Roughly August 1 site will be by subscription only.
There is also another reason why I am moving faster in the direction. IS the size of the database.
Sonner it is done less work for me to move it over.
I am looking for a concept on access to premium forums like Export Data and the GADP Data.
If I stumble on the timeline, I will push it further away.
Thanks

Happy to pay. Now, will we still have to pay during the months that the solar market falters?..
Just kidding.
