Solar glut about over according to SunPower exec

My across the street neighbor is a SunPower exec. We talk frequently about solar's prospects. Normally, he's pretty pessimistic on solar's future but our conversation this evening was different. SunPower seems to think the solar glut is just about worked off. He was telling me that almost 30% of California's energy is coming from renewables. That makes them nearly as far along as Germany. SunPower is normally into big solar farms but they see the future in rooftop installations. It all comes down to storage at this point. He sees a solar future as inevitable since grid parity is virtually here.

Anyway, just an FYI. I don't own SPWR...I'm into the ^%$&%# Chinese stocks. This is likely all stuff we know here. I just thought it was interesting hearing the opinion of an executive for one of the biggest players. If only the people actually working in the industry could be heard over all the "analyst" and media noise.

Have a great weekend....and here's hoping there's a chance my gargantuan paper losses won't be on the books much longer.

I wonder about their rooftop panels. They are expensive but efficient and require a great deal less labor. The leasing works great because folks can save over a thousand a year pretty easily on a big California house. And Sunpower is like having a Tesla sports car except that Sunpower panels never break down. Coolest, top of the line panel and most reliable by a mile. So it's good to hear this guy so optimistic about the rooftop panels. Cause they are certainly more expensive, however massive their lead is on efficiency and reliability.

The solar "project development stocks" will go up leading to SPWR earnings, which may serve as another catalyst to catapult these stocks; shorts will consider covering in this relatively short time period, as SPWR announces the earnings call date just a few weeks ahead of time.
