Canadian Solar (CSIQ)

Interesting because ED told me awhile back biggest hurdle in India is financing. Looks like they found huge bankroll in Mackie Group based out of Canada. Maybe that was missing link they needed to move forward in a big way in India.

It is just a module supply deal into a low ASP country, another none event. PPAs are not signed yet, too.

There is no way Guycan solar could handle EPC for 500MW+ in India, I guess that should have been first red flag. Amazing how someone is straight up telling lies and detailed lies at that.

Pops, could you post the email you got from Ed. It is weird, Sarus Solar seems to be existing with the 3 mentioned companies there was a similar story last year. Or was that just a similar maneuver as they talk of being a AAA rated company, which is BS.

It is interesting how lies can make it up to so many major news portals, can be found at quite a number of places. They all seem to just copy from each other, is it so easy to manipulate stock price nowadays?

Canadian Solar JV to build 500-MW PV parks in India - report

July 13 (SeeNews) - Sarus Solar, formed by Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) and two other Canada-based firms, plans to spend some INR 65 billion (USD 1.02bn/EUR 920m) to build a 500-MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant in India.

Finally he can say that CSIQ will suffer via US tariffs, but only in comparison to JKS and YGE. Trina also lost in the US. I would say that among the three (four if including JA) Canadian will have the toughest to do third party margins. I was hoping they would use all that cash to build aggressively or build cheap solar cell capacity so it will not come to that. Almost August and not a single project announcement.

do they really need to announce projects anytime soon?  I thought they got a 2.4+ GW backlog when they bought recurrent?

They have been absolutely silent for last 2 months. What would be nice is Japan update along with details of upcoming Yieldco.

That's a good point. RE acquisition certainly gave them a busy coming 18 months to build 1 GW in US before ITC deadline. In their presos of construction scale growth in 2015 and 2016 this pressure is dominating. It's more we have to grow like crazy because there's a deadline than we want grow like crazy and have the capacity to do it. This makes me believe they will focus a lot of resources on this and maybe depending on how many fronts they can fight on they'll not bother as much about other business coming 18 months to support this monster growth of US plant construction. Investors and potential investors should watch for the outlook beyond 2016, up till that point the growth will no doubt be fantastic. If they are able with the pressure to maximize profitability on it I'm not sure though. Yieldco investors seems to care more about value than profits though. So far management has delivered since the 2009 debacle.

Hopefully market isn't disappointed when they realize it's false. You would think PV tech would contact IR to confirm. Seems like stock might be reacting to article this morning.

This news may has some foot. I am wondering if CSIQ has any plan in India.

I just found this news in Chinese that all CN4s are bidding for the project in China. CSIQ are bidding for 100MW and others for 50MW. The results will be coming out very soon and these project must be finished by the end of the year.

It is a little bit exciting news.

http://reneweconomy.com.au/2015/large-scale-solar-costs-to-fall-by-half-in-australia-in-five-years-30750

Canadian Solar has around 1GW of potential large scale solar projects in Australia, after picking up the pipeline of projects virtually as a free-option in its purchase of US project developer Recurrent Energy.

Ruoss says 100MW are at “late stage”, including the 95MW Oakey project in south-west Queensland and a 5MW fringe of grid solar project that could be announced soon. Another 400MW of projects in Queensland were at the “early stage”, while there was another 400MW in Western Australia,

based on the high price SUNE just paid to acquire that company, and the news of 3 connected plants by CSIQ,  there may be coming speculation about CSIQ getting acquired ? at any rate,  I nibbled on CSIQ today to add to my minor position in CSIQ

at the very least, positive news may help form the bottom for CSIQ
