It's like saying that Greece did not default.

STP technically Defaulted. They need European Style debt restructuring with the bondholders taking at least 50% haircut, and American GM style government bailout with cash injection and share dilution.

I don't understand. They only managed to get the 2 month forebearance from 60% of bondholders. Payment is due today and 40% gave no forebearance. No news is good news on the day of reckoning?

Greece and STP are apple and oranges.

Greece got 99% of bond holders to agree to receive about 40% of the face value in new bonds and to be paid 10? years out. The rest 1% were paid by Germany.

STP only got 60% of the bond holders to agree to just wait till May. The other 40%, who's going to pay them?

I would wait when market is going to close today. Chinese media speaks of the 17th or more so the 18th for process to start. Today however is the last day to part with the stock before Monday. Remember there is boat load of short on it. People are just buying it back to save themselves paperwork.

STP

If you bought at the low yesterday,You would have a double in 1 day,Unbelievable. TSL gave back most of the gains of this morning,Next week will be a big week for the industry.Good Luck..

I hope nobody was naive enough to hold to Suntech by buying in last few days. It was clear it was a trap set on it. dropped to 0.70. I think by Monday Wuxi will share its takeover plans and bankruptcy plans for the subs. at that point stock will go to zero, I think. Suntech Power Holdings is a holding company, which means it owns assets in China, but in reality it is just a interest in the assets. If assets owned are bankrupt it makes the company bankrupt. I read some theories about recovery and holding the listed status, but what would be if Wuxi will take the Wuxi plants?.

Is it fair to say we can take a big chunk of their capacity off the books?

What was their current capacity?

Well the other 37% an demand their money and STP can't cover the that percent which would force BK and sale of assets to pay debt.... The majority doesn't rule in this case fro what I understand....

I really want to see them go under.... It makes those stronger solars even stronger and removes capacity

BTW even if they do survive who in their right mind would buy their panels knowing the trouble there in? Customers are going to go with companies with good reputation that will be around for a long time. No matter what in my mind their dead
