This is specialized for DG applications but is equally suitable for ground installations as well.

They've had this for a while, maybe a year or so. It's a heavier more durable module for tough conditions. They also used better cells for higher power output (despite more glass), so I think it is a more expensive module. Jinko has a similar durable and high power focus with their Eagle module. The two main types of specialized modules (except different sizes) seems to be durability (e.g. dual glass) and efficiency (e.g. mono). Before many used aestetics (black backsheet) as a special feature. It seems that it is quite common for duarable modules to also have high efficiency features.

I'd imaging that if you want quality you'd be confident in that with Trina's specialized modules.

What's new here is probably the Trinasmart combo. Long-life (durable), optimal utilization (Trinasmart DC optimizer) should make the high quality module an overall good investment. Jinko and JA are also introducing DC optimizers.

Ja and jinko are using a third party chip design to optimize power. (Pretty good.) Glass on glass surfaced as a trend in a photon magazine article roughly half a year ago. PID free eagle is god too but the interesting part about glass glass is its actually more durable (no backsheet can bend over time) and in theory could over time drive down cost as china have a big glass industri.
